I found a new search engine directory a while back entitled the United States Open Directory Project.
Since 1997, the US Open Directory Project has grown from a few categories of listings lists, to over 50,000 pages of lists, and continues to grow daily. Listings and suggestions for lists and websites are submitted by both users and website owners, and then each listing is reviewed by real people before it is listed and posted to the directory.
Submitting a listing to the US Open Directory Project is free and there are no requirements such as a reciprocal link.
I have already added the directory to my list of search engines to submit websites to. If clients on maintenance have us handle their search engine submissions, I will be submitting them as their maintenance schedule and my time allows.
The US Open Directory Project does have paid listing options. If anyone is interested in those, please let me know.
